Two 3-0 AFC West rivals clash at Allegiant Stadium.Get odds, injury reports, key matchups & our prediction.

Some NFL games are just special.
Chiefs vs Raiders? That’s one of them.

This Sunday, October 4, 2026, something big is happening at Allegiant Stadium.
For the first time ever, the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders will play each other while both are undefeated.

You heard that right.
Both teams are 3-0.

If you told me back in August that the Raiders would be tied with the Chiefs for first in the AFC West heading into Week 4, I would’ve asked what you were smoking.
But here we are.The Raiders are real, Mahomes says so himself, and this game has become the must-watch matchup of the weekend.

Let’s break it all down.

Game Details: When, Where & How to Watch
Before we get into the strategy, here’s everything you need to know about the game:

Date: Sunday, October 4, 2026
Kickoff: 4:25 PM ET / 3:25 PM CT / 1:25 PM PT
Location: Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Nevada
TV: CBS (Jim Nantz, J.J.
Watt, and Tracy Wolfson on the call)
Live Stream: Paramount+, NFL+, Fubo, DIRECTV

If you're in Kansas City, you can catch it on KCTV5.
Raiders fans in Vegas know which channel to find CBS.

The Stakes Are MASSIVE
Let’s be real, nobody saw this coming.

Last season, neither of these teams made the playoffs.
The Chiefs lost the AFC West for the first time in nine years. The Raiders?Well, the Raiders. They finished with a combined nine wins.

Now?
They're the last two undefeated teams in the division, and the winner takes sole possession of first place in the AFC West.

Patrick Mahomes isn’t taking the Raiders lightly either.

"I wouldn't be surprised if it's a very hostile environment, trying to take it back to those Oakland Raiders days," Mahomes said earlier this week.
"They're playing great football, you can see it on tape. That 3-0 record's real."

When Mahomes shows that kind of respect to a division rival, you know it’s serious.

Chiefs: Back in Championship Form
The Chiefs look like… the Chiefs again.

After a down year that saw them miss the playoffs, Kansas City has come out firing in 2026.
Mahomes is healthy and playing like a man on a mission.Through three games, he's completing passes at an absurd rate and the offense is humming.

The running game has been the real story though.
Kenneth Walker III has been an absolute monster, forcing 41 missed tackles through three weeks, the most in the entire NFL.

That’s not a typo.
Forty-one.

The Chiefs' offensive line, led by Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith, has been opening up massive lanes on the left side.
On power/gap concepts, they're averaging 10.4 yards per attempt. That's video game numbers.

Defensively, Kansas City ranks 10th against the run, allowing just 99.7 yards per game.
Steve Spagnuolo's unit has been mixing up coverages effectively, and they'll need to be sharp against a Raiders offense that's been putting up points.

Chiefs Injury Concerns
The big question mark is left tackle Josh Simmons, who's been dealing with a back issue and didn’t practice Wednesday.
Rashee Rice was limited with a knee issue but should play.Chris Jones was also on the report with a calf injury but practiced fully.

Raiders: The NFL's Biggest Surprise
I'll admit it.
I was wrong about the Raiders.

When they signed Kirk Cousins this offseason, I thought it was a bridge move, a stopgap while they developed a rookie quarterback.
Nobody expected Cousins to come out and lead the league in touchdown passes through three weeks.

But that's exactly what he's done.

Cousins has thrown for 661 yards with nine touchdowns and only three interceptions.
He's been efficient, smart, and most importantly, he's been winning.

The team has figured out their main strategy: run the ball with Ashton Jeanty to set up play-action passes, then let Cousins throw the ball.
Jeanty has carried the ball at least 19 times in every game so far this season.Even though his yardage has gone down a bit in the last two games, the team's focus on running the ball has helped open up space for the passing game.

Then there's Brock Bowers.

The star tight end missed the first two games because of a knee injury but came back strong in Week 3.
He caught 10 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown against the Saints. He's going to be a tough matchup for the Chiefs' defense on Sunday.

Raiders Injury Report
The Raiders have some good news: rookie safety Treydan Stukes has passed the concussion protocol and will play.
Jackson Powers-Johnson is dealing with a groin injury and wasn't practicing on Thursday, so that's something to keep an eye on.

Key Matchups That Will Decide This Game

1. Raiders Secondary vs.Chiefs Receiving Corps

This is a big one.
The Chiefs' wide receivers have been...okay.Not really standout performers.Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice have combined for just 273 yards on 23 receptions this season.

On the other hand, the Raiders' secondary has surprised a lot of people.
Rookie cornerback Hezekiah Masses leads the league with three interceptions, and Stukes returning gives them their top safety back.

If the Raiders can stop the Chiefs' receivers, they can make Kansas City rely more on their running game.
But making Mahomes one-dimensional is easier said than done.

2. Chiefs Run Defense vs.Ashton Jeanty

The Raiders plan to run the ball early, as that's their main strength.
Jeanty is a tough running back who can wear down defenses. If he gets going, it opens up the passing game for Cousins and Bowers.

The Chiefs are ranked 10th in stopping the run, but they haven't seen a running back like Jeanty yet. That means Kansas City's defensive line needs to step up and do better.

3. Maxx Crosby vs.Chiefs Offensive Line

Crosby is one of the top pass rushers in the league.
The Chiefs have only managed a 20.2% pressure rate this season, which is 26th in the NFL.

Meanwhile, the Raiders are second in the league with a 36.3% pressure rate and fourth in sacks with 10.

Andy Reid knows what's coming: "Relentless, tough, and one of the best players in the business."

If Crosby can mess up Mahomes' rhythm, the game becomes really exciting.

Betting Odds & Prediction

Here's where the smart money is going:

Bet Type Chiefs Raiders
Moneyline -225 +185
Spread -4.5 +4.5
Over/Under 47.5 —
Odds via DraftKings

The line started at Chiefs -5.5 and is now at -4.5, which shows the smart bettors believe in what the Raiders have done so far.

ESPN's Matchup Predictor gives the Chiefs a 70% chance of winning, but that feels a bit high considering how well Las Vegas has played.

My Prediction

Look, I really want to believe in the Raiders.
The story is incredible, and Allegiant Stadium is going to be packed with more Raiders fans than usual (ticket resale data shows a 4-to-1 ratio favoring Las Vegas).

But here's the thing: Mahomes is 6-0 at Allegiant Stadium in games he's played.
He's 13-2 against the Raiders in his career. And the Chiefs have won 21 of the last 26 meetings overall.

The Raiders will stay close.
Bowers will make some big plays.Crosby will get a couple of sacks.

But when it really matters in the fourth quarter, I'm taking Mahomes over Cousins every time.

Final Score: Chiefs 27, Raiders 20

The Bottom Line

This is one of the biggest games between the Chiefs and Raiders in years.
Both teams are undefeated and playing well. The winner will take control of the AFC West.

For the Raiders, this is a chance to prove they're ready to compete.
A win over the Chiefs would show the entire NFL that the AFC West has a new powerhouse.

For the Chiefs, this is about showing they're still the top team in the division.
They lost the division last year and won't let the Raiders take it back.

Kickoff is at 4:25 PM ET on CBS.
Don't miss it.
